National Science Day

National Science Day is celebrated in India every year on February 28.  The National Science Day was introduced by the Government of India in 1987, based on the idea that science and scientific minds should be celebrated like national leaders and martyrs.

It is noteworthy that the day is celebrated every year based on a goal and for the year 2013, the policy emphasis is on “Genetically Modified Crops and Food Security”.

Purpose of National Science Day:

It is worth noting that the main purpose of this day is to tell the young generation of students and those coming in the future about the excellence of science, which is the basis of any civilization, and to find many new scientific ideas in all parts of the country, to put them to appropriate use and to welcome new discoveries.

History of National Science Day:

The history of celebrating such a day is unusual unlike other days.  Generally birthdays and memorial days of national leaders are declared as special days.  But unlike these two categories, Aiyya Sir, who was born in Indian soil and who researched and published many rare discoveries to the admiration of the world, was a great physics genius.  C.  Today, February 28th is declared as National Science Day by V Raman, who published his Nobel Prize-winning research results.

Sir.  C.  V.  It was on this day that Raman discovered the scientific explanation of his famous Raman Effect.  This discovery earned India worldwide fame and the highest award, the Nobel Prize (1930), was one of the most proud of him.  It is noteworthy that the Government of India declared this day as National Science Day in commemoration of that event and with the aim that science should reach the grassroots.
